About the Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, the person will be responsible for all aspects of Commercial Management activities on our projects. In the role you shall undertake commercial activities during the precontract process through to the commercial close out of each project. In addition, the person will be actively involved in delivering a positive attitude towards Health, Safety and Environmental activities.

This role is based in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.

Key Capabilities

1. General

• Analysis of Sub-contract Agreements with Main Contractors
• Ability to undertake commercial activities, developing budgets, measurement, procurement, preparation of Sub-contract Agreements.
• Preparation of commercial reports for external and internal reviews
• Show a broad understanding of the different types of Construction Contracts.
• Participate and contribute a positive attitude.

2. Data Management and Project Reporting


• Shall ensure comprehensive record keeping is maintained.
• Competent in the preparation and presentation of budgets.
• Ability to generate the commercial reports in detail for all aspects of the project.
• Ensure all reporting (external and internal) is delivered on time.

3. Contract Management

• Advise the project management team on contractual matters.
• Administer the Sub-Contract Agreements with Main Contractors
• Undertake the monthly interim valuations to Main Contractors.
• Ability to identify risks and opportunities within Sub-Contracts.
• Manage all contractual matters with our supply chain.
• Understand the general contractual provisions such as bonds, guarantees, warranties and insurances.
• Understanding of the Construction Contract Act 2013.

4. Construction Technology and Quantification of Construction Works

• Ability to read and interrogate 3D models, complex drawings and specifications.
• Analyse costs, compare to budgets and issue reports in a swift manner.
• Demonstrate in detail your understanding of different construction technologies used in the industry.
• An accredited course by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Engineers (IEI)
• Excellent communication skills.
• Analytical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and plan effectively within a strict deadline environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating in a similar role.
• Excellent computer literacy.

Required Qualifications / Expertise

• An accredited course by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Engineers (IEI)
• Excellent communication skills.
• Analytical thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritise and plan effectively within a strict deadline environment.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating in a similar role.
• Excellent computer literacy.
